The many loving memories you have of your precious daughter will help in no small way to sustain you in the days and months ahead. When young people leave our lives and community they leave a great vacuum which can only be replaced by the sunshine they brought us when in this life and the memories we have made. Cár imigh tú uainn a chara,
Go tobann ní raibh tú ann.
D’fhág tú cairde i do dhiaidh
    I do shaol laethúil croíúil.
Is cosúil go mbeidh a fhios againn
Cén fáth a d’imigh tú chomh luath.
    Faoi láthair,áfach,fágtar muid,
anseo, linn féin is le trua.

    Pé dhuine a bhuail leat
Tá a fhios ar fad acu.
Go bhfuil cluiche mhór thuas staighre
Is ar an bpáirc ann atá tú.

She nurtured her talents in both sport and music and was central to many events in our school calendar. Aoife completed her Leaving Cert in 2021, a difficult time for young people. Aoife embraced this with the same positivity and enthusiasm she brought to all parts of her life. It was of no surprise to us that Aoife was pursuing a career in teaching as she possessed all the attributes to be an excellent teacher. The thoughts and prayers of our entire school community are with her brother Eoghan, our first year student, her parents Clarie and Joe, the Shelly and Hassett families and the wider community impacted by her sad passing.

Our entire school community is shocked and deeply saddened by the untimely death of Aoife. We were privileged that Aoife completed her teaching practice in Coláiste Phobal Ros Cré last year. She displayed so many characteristics of a wonderful teacher. She joined our staffroom and made friends with ease. She taught her students with compassion, warmth and a great sense of fun. The measure of her was not only her commitment to her students and her studies but the work she immersed herself in outside of the classroom. She embraced every class and task with her distinct smile and no job was too big or too small for Aoife to try. She was a pleasure to work with and was a gifted teacher in the making. We are saddened for all of Aoife’s family, her friends and her clubmates. We are so grateful we got the opportunity to have Aoife on staff and we will hold her memory very dearly for evermore.

    An ode to Aoife

She had grace, she had power, she was light
    Moyne Templetuohy, Clonakenny, Templemore.
    .
Her name; Aoife Shelly, known for her might
Born in ‘02, alive forever more.
    .
She was a leader, a teacher, an artist
A friend to many, loyal to her crew
    .
Not many can say they can throw their hand to anything,
    Basketball, Camogie, many’s a tune.
    .
Voice of an angel, a mentor on the field
A legacy to behold, legend of the game.
    .
May God rest her soul, too pure for this world,
May her smile stay bright, her fire, her flame.
    .
For we didn’t lose an angel, it’s an angel we have gained.
