The death has occurred of

Sr. Joan Kirby

formerly Convent of Mercy, Templemore, Co. Tipperary and Glenview Strand, Newcastlewest, Co. Limerick. Died peacefully at Catherine McAuley Nursing Home, Limerick on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023. Pre-deceased by her parents Batt and Mary, brothers John, Paddy and Batt and nephew James.

Deeply mourned by her sisters-in-law, Cora and Helen, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, relatives, Mercy Sisters, and many friends.

May Sr. Joan rest in peace.

Reposing in Grey’s Funeral Home, Templemore, Co. Tipperary (Eircode E41 TR83) on Sunday, 25th of June, from 4 pm to 6 pm followed by removal to the Church of the sacred Heart, Templemore. Requiem Mass on Monday the 26th of June at 12 noon, interment in St. Joseph’s cemetery afterwards.

I have known Sr. Joan since I first came to Templemore in 2006 and kept in touch with her over the years, though not as frequent in recent years. I can only endorse what has already been said about her – her great care and love for those in St. Anne’s Special School, Roscrea, her work in the Parish Church and especially with regard to the Altar Servers, her great wit, her sense of humour, her warm smile, deep faith and dedicated service.
    Unfortunately I cannot attend her reposing and Funeral Mass as I will be away on retreat, but she will be remembered in my prayers & Masses during the coming week. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
