The death has occurred of Rev. Fr. Michael Cormack. Michael Cormack, retired pastor of St. Rose of Lima parish Roseville, Dioceses of Sacramento and formerly of Ballyerk, Moyne, Thurles, in his 96th year. Peacefully, in the care of the staff at Mercy Mc Mahon Care Home, Sacramento, on Thursday March 2nd. Rev. Fr. Michael, Predeceased by his father Willie and his mother Sarah, sister Mary (Butler), brothers Jimmy and Willie. Deeply regretted by his loving sisters Stasia (Maher) and Peg, brother-in- law Larry, nieces and nephews, Bishop Jaime Soto, fellow priests of the dioceses dear friends and parishioners.

Funeral mass for Fr. Michael will take place at St. Rose of Lima Parish Roseville at 10.30 am (5.30pm Irish time) on Tuesday March 21st.

Mass in memory of Father Michael will be said in St Mary’s Church Moyne on Friday April 14th at 7.30 pm.  This mass can be accessed by clicking here

    We extend our deepest condolences to Father Cormack’s family. He loved you all and was so very proud of his nieces and nephews. We noted that the local obituary referred to him as “beloved priest.” Father Cormack was beloved, respected, caring and had great insight into life in general.

    When we last spoke with him, he was as up to date on the happenings in the world as he had been when we first met in 1985. Our sons were young teenagers and they loved being with him. Later he would marry one son and baptize our grandchildren.

    Thank you for sharing him with us. He blessed our lives. RIP

    For years, I was a Eucharist Minister with St. Rose of Lima, visiting the elderly homebound and often needed a Priest to join me for the Sacraments of Last Rites and/or Reconciliation. Fr. Cormack, although retired, was so gracious as I could call him on his private cell-phone and we’d coordinate the latter. In fact, there were times when I need Father to drop everything (as it was an emergency), come by and pick him up and drive to the person in crisis for the Sacraments. Fr. Cormack, my wife and I spend much time dining for lunch or dinner and one time he cooked for us at his private residence when he lived at Christ the King Retirement. What a Godly, Spiritual, Kind and Holy man/Priest. Rest in Peace Father as I will never EVER forget you.
